
Sarah Wescott
Chief Carbon Officer
As Chief Carbon Officer, Sarah is responsible for DFC's policies, standards, and partnerships related to the development and implementation of DFC’s carbon removal projects.
Sarah’s background in carbon markets has covered registry, project development, and corporate buyer perspectives. Prior to DFC, she served as Head of Carbon Policy & Standards at Pilot Company, where she helped build out capabilities for navigating the energy transition. Previously, Sarah was Director of Methodologies at Finite Carbon, overseeing methodology development, industry initiatives and trends, registry relationships, and strategic partnerships. She also supported project development as it relates to quality, integrity, and compliance. Sarah’s introduction to carbon markets was via a 7-year span of program management roles at the Climate Action Reserve, one of the “major four” voluntary/compliance carbon registries. There she managed teams responsible for auditing offset projects and verification bodies, engaged with stakeholders in the methodology development process, and collaborated closely with regulators, project developers, and verification bodies.
Sarah holds an M.A. in Environmental Policy from the University of Southern California. She currently resides in Los Angeles, California where she spends much of her free time gardening and knitting.
